Flash

Flash CS3 pro
Flash and ActionScript 3.0 - finally a fully object orientated language behind the fantastic graphic power of flash.

DROPSHIP. A full blown "Flash Game". This is a demonstration of the integration of graphics and programming using CS3 pro, Adobe's new Flash IDE.

SHOGUN. This application shows how Flash with AS3.0 can be woven together with xhtml, php and mysql.

Countdown Timer. A simple application to help my son with his homework!

Flash MX

Flash took a great leap forward with the "MX" version of Macromedia's Studio IDE. Early ActionScript facilitated some basic interaction.

A Flash animation with some simple effects and an inserted video clip.

A flash slide show application. This simple application allows images to be dropped into a directory, and the php script then automatically loads and presents the images inside the flash container.

The movie home section of this webpage shows some simple form interaction (circa FlashMX days). PHP and MYSQL are also used for backend operability.

Flash 4

Flash and mouse interactivity. Early Flash was more about "eye candy" than actual process enhancement.

A portly fish follows your mouse. Prior to ActionScript, Flash had some basic capabilities which allowed for mouse interactivity.

"Atomic Mouse". Using rotational capabilities in Flash. Also show early flash rendering of "alpha" shading/transpearancy.

A more complex example. The ability to use math calculations in Flash was the precursor to the introduction of ActionScript (flash's programming language).

Flash (circa 1996)

Some examples of early flash animation. Amazing stuff back in those days!

Top 10 Beaches. A simple, graphical flash file. Does not incorporate ActionScript (it didn't exist back then).

Starfield. A simple musical flash script. Download of this file circa 1996 was about 10 minutes!

Space Battle. A simple animation. The point of this flash script was the optimzation of the graphics (due to download times with a 14.4 kbit/s modem).
